CREATIVE ARTS

We are a church that desires to capture the imagination. We inspire dreams, joys, and possibilities. We challenge the status quo, hunger for the unprecedented, and attempt the creatively impossible. We long to illustrate the nature of a creative God by being a church of creativity, excellence and vision.

MUSIC

WANT TO GET INVOLVED?

The RenChurch Worship Ministry exists to encourage people to surrender their lives, gifts and talents to the Lord. It is our desire to create an atmosphere where people are exposed and encouraged to encounter the presence of God in their personal lives and our corporate gatherings.

God has blessed us with an amazing team of vocalist and musicians that help facilitate a level of excellence in experiencing God.

If you’re an inspiring musician or vocalist and interested in being apart of this Ministry….Getting involved is easy!

Here is the process:

1.  E-mail Pastor Josh about your interest at: josh@renchurch.tv.

2.  We will respond to your email, as quickly as possible, and attempt to set up a time where one of us can meet with you one on one.

3.  When you meet with one of us, we will get some time to know one another, listen to your story and hear why you would like to be a part of the team. We will provide you with a ministry description as an overview and the expectations of our current team…..we promise, it won’t be scary.

4.  Before you leave that meeting we will both agree on the next step for you and your involvement at RenChurch.

DRAMA

Drama has become one of the most dominant forms of artistic communication in the western world.  To see the extent to which drama arrests the imagination of people worldwide, just look at the movie and television industries.  Drama is a major form of communication that people like and respond to.  At Renaissance Church, we feel we are called to communicate His truth to a desperately needy world and want to use one of the most significant and effective forms of communication known.  We want to present the Good News with as much energy and creativity as possible!

Here is a snapshot of an original production that was written, directed, and performed by Renaissance Church.

“THE PROMISE”

The Promise was an uncensored look at the life of a Malcom and Candace Mitchell, a couple in crisis. Though everything in their life seemed to start out so right, we found them facing one of life’s most challenging questions: How do you restore a broken promise, when the breaking of that promise has broken your heart? Beyond telling the story of Easter, the drama showed the power of Easter working in the lives of everyday people. Sometimes zany, other times in your face, but always honest, “The Promise” made the audience  both laugh and cry while watching this intense story of sacrifice, forgiveness, and true love.

PHOTOGRAPHY

So you are not a photographer? Think again…Imagine everything in your life colored by the lens of heaven’s filter. Take a few moments and spend time with God, letting Him show you what heaven is like. Grab a camera (the best camera is the one you have with you) and capture a moment!

Renaissance’s Creative Community (ORACLE) invited our photographers to submit an original photo for display at our communion service. The theme was Romans 1:20, ”For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”

“GRACE FALLS LIKE RAIN”

by Jen Kraintz

We planted a Magnolia tree in our backyard this spring. I watched in awe as the branches sprouted tight buds that slowly opened until beautiful blossoms spilled out. Then finally, petal by petal they fell to the ground.

Watching this over a period of weeks, I was struck by the rhythm of God’s timing and how He is faithful to complete what He begins. The same God that whispers to this tree when to bloom in the spring, is alive in me and reminds me of my purpose in this life. Never leaving me as I am but growing me and moving me forward according to His vision. When the flowers began to wilt prematurely, God was so faithful to send the rain just when it was needed. When I can’t see anymore and forget who He created me to be, it’s then that I feel His grace fall like rain.

Thanks Jen for sharing your heart and your photo!

POETRY

Poetry is artistically rendering words in such a way as to evoke intense emotion or an Ah Ha! experience from a reader. It is a place to spill your heart and soul on paper, making the sorrows and pain in our lives into something beautiful. Sharing our grief with others to help piece them back together.

Renaissance’s Creative Community (ORACLE) invited our poets to submit an original poem that was displayed at our communion service. The theme was 1 Peter 2:24 (NLT) “He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.”

“A PSALM OF PRAISE TO THE PERFECT LAMB OF GOD”

by Lyn Beck

The Eternal I AM, Messiah and King,

it is HIM I declare, and of Him I do sing.

HE took my dark deeds, thoughts and my pain,

placed them on HIS own body to be tortured and slain.

HE who spun the stars and set them in place,

by HIS own blood purchased my  grace.

And now I am dead, to all that is wrong,

to HIM who is holy I now belong.

Once I did live for unholy deeds,

but now to do good I have been freed.

And through the scourging that HE suffered so,

I am no longer broken, I’ve been made whole.

ABOUT ORACLE

This community of people wants to communicate the epic of God in a way that people can understand, taking their God-given artistic talents to glorify Him. This is done through Sight, Sound, and Motion.

DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF AN ARTIST?

Why or why not? Would you have given that same answer when you were in 1st grade? In the text out of Exodus 31, it is clear that God called and created these artists for this specific task. What has God specifically created you for? Did you play an instrument in high school or college? Were you in a dance troupe or theatrical group? Did you take painting lessons? Have you played in a garage band or “back in the day” play in a local bar band? Most likely there are about 30 percent of us that have some background in the arts, and we have the potential to be engaged, using those gifts and skills in the ministry. As a creative community, we set aside time to have artistic conversations. We want to engage creative opportunities at Renaissance. We are a community that wants to see people moved in the authentic story telling of ‘the best story of all’…Jesus Christ.
